Prof. Joshua C. Walsh

Joshua Walsh is originally from Pasadena, Newfoundland and received his MSc and PhD under the supervision of Graham Bodwell at Memorial University. Upon completion of his doctoral studies, Josh went to Switzerland to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship under Michal Juríček at the University of Zurich. During his stay in Zurich, Josh was awarded both the University of Zurich Postdoctoral grant and the Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral fellowship. In 2023, Josh returned to Canada to begin his independent career as an Assistant Professor of organic chemistry at the University of Manitoba.

Samuel is from Larteh, Ghana. He did his bachelor’s under the supervision of Dr. Richard Boakye Owoare at the university of Ghana and His MSc. under the supervision of Dr. Alexey Festa at the Peoples Friendship University of Russia. Sam Loves Soccer and Cyclophanes.

Shashani Fernando

Shashani grew up in Negombo, Sri Lanka. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kelaniya. After completing her undergraduate research project, she developed an interest in synthetic organic chemistry. She joined the Walsh Lab in September 2023 as an M.Sc. student to explore cyclophane chemistry. She likes to travel, cook, and watch Korean dramas in her spare time.

Jadon Khouv

Jadon Khouv, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is currently finishing his undergraduate honours project under Dr. Walsh. His current work has involved the coordination of aromatic rings with various electron rich/deficient groups and understanding their effects. Outside of the lab you can find him either playing badminton, underwater football, or going snowboarding!

Sofia Walsh

Sofia is our Postdogtoral fellow. She is a little worried about Winnipeg winters but has come prepared.

Leo Walsh

Leo is our PhD Catdidate seen here inside his favorite molecule, dodecahedrane. He was not named after Leo Paquette; however, it is a fortunate coincidence.
